RhoDeo 1349 Goldy Rhox 138

Hello, today the 138th post of GoldyRhox, classic pop rock in the darklight is Sir Thomas John Woodward, OBE (born 7 June 1940),  a Welsh singer. He became one of the most popular vocalists to emerge from the mid-1960s. Since then he has sung nearly every form of popular music – pop, rock, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel – and sold over 100 million records. He has had thirty-six Top 40 hits in the UK and nineteen in the United States; some of his notable songs include "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat", "Delilah", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "She's a Lady", "Kiss" and "Sex Bomb".

Having been awarded an OBE in 1999, he received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for "services to music" in 2006. He has received numerous other awards throughout his career, including the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1966

In March 1957 Jones married his high school girlfriend, Melinda Trenchard when they were expecting a child together, both aged 16. The couple's son, Mark, was born in the month following their wedding. To support his young family Jones took a job working in a glove factory and was later employed in construction. Despite his philandering, at the height of his fame , he has admitted to sleeping with up to 250 groupies a year, he's still married to Melinda. He's been managed by his by his now 56 year old son

Most of the albums i 'll post made many millions for the music industry and a lot of what i intend to post still gets repackaged and remastered decades later, squeezing the last drop of profit out of bands that for the most part have ceased to exist long ago, although sometimes they get lured out of the mothballs to do a big bucks gig or tour. Now i'm not as naive to post this kinda music for all to see and have deleted, these will be a black box posts, i'm sorry for those on limited bandwidth but for most of you a gamble will get you a quality rip don't like it, deleting is just 2 clicks...That said i will try to accommodate somewhat and produce some cryptic info on the artist and or album.

Today's mystery album was released 16th of September 1999 it was the artist's 33rd or 57th official studio album. After a lengthy career, and a notable absence from the music charts for several years, he resurrected his career with this album of fifteen cover versions and two original tracks ("Sexbomb", "Looking Out My Window") recorded as duets with current artists. To ensure that the finished product retained the sound of these artists, he also recorded the tracks in the same studios these artists used, and also used their record producers. It became the highest seller of Jones' career, reaching #1 on the British charts in 1999 and again in 2000. Its biggest single was the collaboration with Mousse T, "Sexbomb", which reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart.

The album has sold more than six million copies worldwide, despite not being released in the US with the singers's US record company stating that many of the artists were not known outside of the UK. Yes he clearly had a rather provincial US label (Interscope Records) that saw no money in co promoting some of the UK indie artists on the album, but basically didn't get it at all. So no new US fans and the old ones could cocoon further in the green green grass of home (not the smoking kind). Platinum in the UK(4x), Australia (2x), Italy (2x), Austria, Switserland, and Sweden and plenty of gold in the rest of the world, gosh they do employ nitwits in the US music industry.
