RhoDeo 2013 Re Up 232

Hello, best place to be to lead a normal life these days...Sweden. There everything is 'normal' but then they had no carnival and citizens skying in the Alps as they have good skying facilities at home, Sweden has corona under control thusfar. And as to be expected first voices can be heard that the lives saved with the current policies aren't worth the huge toll taken on societies economies and a depression will cause many more deaths and loss of quality of life for billions of people and for years. I for one (whilst in the higher risk category) believe countries should go back to normal asap. Yes hospitals won't be able to cope, but palliative care could be scaled up quickly with family being able to take some of the burden . We know now this virus doesn't kill everyone, most hardly noticed they had it only 5 % needed intensive care, alas they need it for 3 weeks and thus the capacity in most countries is lacking, so why not accept the inevitable, many will die outside the hospital, we should prepare to give them a painless and worthy death surrounded by friends and family. We need steps in that direction because many poorer countries that have very little hospital facilities have nothing to protect and simply copy what the West is doing and thereby ruining what little economy they have. Mr Modi (India's president) is currently busy infecting his whole country with his idiot policy, instead of making sure what medical personal they have has adequate protection. Corona will be with us for years even after we in the West have created a vaccine, but that's a year away and in the meantime we shouldn't ruin our economies but accommodate fast testing and compulsory quarantine.

Here at Rho-xs visitor numbers have been stable but i did notice a big rise in re-up requests which points to my visitors spending more time at Rho-Xs (glad to be at service). Alas over the years i've lost access to a number of disks, specially the loss of my Aetix and Roots collection hinders my capability to re-up. Obviously the torrent world offers a solution, but this scene is dynamic and suffers the same fate as my posts , the hosts delete the file when demand has dropped, in the torrent world this even worse. Unfortunately this means whilst bigger names get revived the more obscure tend to completely disappear, a fate that is suffered by roots artists as an example Salif Keita a relative big name is nowhere to be found in flac these days (just one album) when a few years ago there were many titles to be had. Same goes for many a reggae artist and even in Aetix the choice of what is on offer is deminishing day by day. I'm doing my best to fulfil requests but it's difficult and in the future i will request you my visitor to give back the odd title that you downloaded via Rho-xs and repost it here.

13 correct requests for this week + 2 at the wrong place, one double and 1 too early,  whatever another batch of 52 re-ups (16.3 gig)

These days i'm making an effort to re-up, it will satisfy a smaller number of people which means its likely the update will  expire relatively quickly again as its interest that keeps it live. Nevertheless here's your chance ... asks for re-up in the comments section at the page where the expired link resides, or it will be discarded by me. ....requests are satisfied on a first come first go basis. ...updates will be posted here remember to request from the page where the link died! To keep re-ups interesting to my regular visitors i will only re-up files that are at least 12 months old (the older the better as far as i am concerned), and please check the previous update request if it's less then a year old i won't re-up either.

Looka here , requests fulfilled up to March 29th... N'Joy

I have to agree with those that think your Typhoid Trumpian attitude of "we shouldn't ruin our economies" is misplaced to say the least and if I wasn't rationalizing it by recognizing how the virus can make us all lose to tempers at times your "i want my sports back instead of 24/7 corona misery" whining would close to unforgivable. Just keep in mind that kind of selfishness can't be offset by the merest act of sharing music files.

Hello, I expected response to my statement above and i want to make some things clear, i'm no fan of Trump but he's starting to become afraid, because the US can't cope with months of isolation, it will lead to riots and ruin. And being the selfish prick that he is, it will cause his Presidency to end in disgrace.
But i was talking about the current situation in the Netherlands where meanwhile it is stressed that IC treatment for weeks takes it's own huge toll and as there is no cure it could be preferable to go through the disease supported by friends and family (obviously protected and supported by medical staff and portable oxygen systems). Things are moving into that direction here as the regular patients that have been pushed aside start to show their face and complain why their lives don't seem to matter.
As for the economics, personally i have no interest or shares but i do care what happens to those dropped into dire straits because they can't make any money anymore and that's why i think life should return to normal asap and if that results in more deaths in the short term we should accept that, because it wards of many more deaths caused by the current policy in the future. Not that it would happen here because we are a wealthy country with lots of support systems, but in most countries these are non existent, I think we need to think our actions through a year ahead on a global level and concentrate on personal protection gear made widely available everywhere in the world.

PS
my closing comment which i have deleted now were triggered by wanting to contrast the overkill of corona news with the lack of sports

Hello Cass, you know me i'm into the big picture. Sure it's good to see that all of a sudden people want to help because they have all this free-time but what happens when things go back to somewhat normal will they still be prepared to support those in need with less free-time. Maybe they will, and this would be a good thing for all involved. I'm sure you see this wave of collectivism as a good thing for the human race, alas i'm more of a cynic as i see lot's of selfishness too and a herd that can go on a stampede anytime. It frightens me-not for myself but for those that will be crushed. This world is being shaken now by the virus and we need to dampen the effect by temporary shutting everything down but not as long that getting started again is becoming an issue of contention.

Love Rho

You still don't get it. Saying "life should return to normal asap and if that results in more deaths in the short term we should accept that" shows a profound lack of understanding at how the virus affects society.

Simply put: the virus needs to be dealt with BEFORE worrying about economies. Honestly, it should not be difficult to understand there will not be any kind of "return to normal" by letting people die by the millions "in the short term". That is a weird goddamned definition of "normal";

First and this influences my opinion on the matter: I'm not afraid to die. (Nobody should be)
I don't know why you mention millions will die if we go back to work, not in Europe and Asia is already going back to work. Trump now mentions that millions could die in the US but that's a cynical ploy so he can declare victory if only 200,000 die in the US. As for most of the rest of the world there can be no isolation, health services are limited they will have to ride it out and they will be a source of infection for years to come if Asia and the West don't set up clinics to inoculate the populace with the vaccine that's being developed now.

It is almost as if you are unable to understand your own words. There is no vaccine *right now* and health services are *already* over capacity *right now*.

And cases are still rising.
