Hello, going 50 years back in time, the start of popular music rock N roll, rhythm and blues ' wild' dancing, well good fun. Second post Marvin Gaye, the men torn between two very different worlds..the bedroom and the bible, in the end latter became the fatal one as his father-a priest- shot and killed him during an argument.(gun control who needs it ) Anyway a stunning live album, recorded 30 years ago at the London Palladium.

VA - The Cruising Collection ( ^ 295mb)
The fifties was a watershed period for popular musi, the early half of the decade had been dominated by ballad singers and big bands, but in 54 The babyboom teenagers Bill Haley released Shake Ratte and roll and Rock around the clock and the whole musical picture transformed. the babyboom teens got their own singers and groups to follow, people that represented their dreams , ambitions and frustrations. you may not have heard of some of these names but they all made solid contributions to this new music scene. Some have became international stars, there's a stack of goodies here and plenty to dance to. It certainly got plenty of spins, so when i came across this cd version of the original double album i didn't hesitate and bought it, did i say all these tracks are ACE sound quality. And should you not like it (cant imagine) you can always burn a disk and surprise your old folks.

Marvin Gaye - Live At The London Palladium (77 * 498mb)
Marvin Gaye's real name was Marvin Pentz Gay Jr.. He was born on April 2nd, 1939, & died on Arpril 1st, 1984. This man was a master of soul but with a very troubled background. After starting his recording career as a drummer at Motown, he changed his name from Marvin Gay to Marvin Gaye, adding the 'e' to separate himself from his father's name, to stop gossiping about his sexuality and also did it in earnest of his idol, Sam Cooke, who also added an 'e' to his last name. Gaye quickly became Motown's top solo male artist and scored numerous hits during the 1960s. With his successful 1971 album What's Going On and subsequent releases including Trouble Man and Let's Get It On, Gaye, who was a part-time songwriter for Motown artists during his early years with the label, proved that he could write and produce his own singles without having to rely on the Motown system. He released several other notable albums, including Let's Get It On and I Want You, and had hits with singles such as "Let's Get It On", "Got to Give It Up", and, in the early 1980s, "Sexual Healing".
Throughout his life he was torn between the Bible and the bedroom. Heavily into drugs, involved in a failing marriage and so Gaye's career took a dive in the late 70's but then in 1982 he had a smash hit with Sexual Healing. That year, he returned to live with his parents until that fateful day, when he was shot by his father (a preacher) after a heated argument on a Sunday morning. A truly great soul singer.
